On behalf of the
WAPR (Indian Chapter) it is my pleasure to invite you to attend
the Xth World Congress of the World Association for Psychosocial
Rehabilitation (WAPR), which will be held from 12th to 15th November,
2009, in the city of Bangalore in India. This is the first time
that the World Congress of the WAPR is being organized in Asia and
we are happy that India has been chosen as the venue.
In Asia, and particularly in India, many innovations in strategies
for rehabilitation of the mentally ill, have taken place in recent
times, especially focusing on partnerships and collaborations between
professionals, family members and consumers.
The theme of the 2009 World Congress is 'One World: Quest for Integration'.
This meeting promises to provide a rich blend of intense scientific
review spread over three days with glimpses of the colorful culture
of India. The conference will provide a platform for delegates to
update themselves on the progress and scientific break-through that
has taken place in the field of Psychosocial Rehabilitation. Experienced
international speakers from the developing and the developed worlds
will share their rich and varied experiences.
The Xth World Congress of the World Association for Psychosocial
Rehabilitation (WAPR), will be held at the Convention Centre of
the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS),
Bangalore, Karnataka. NIMHANS is the premier institution for clinical
service delivery, research and training in the field of Mental Health
and Neuro sciences in India.
The city of Bangalore, situated in the southern Indian state of
Karnataka, is a city where old world charm and cultural heritage
coexists cheek-by-jowl with the young exuberance of the technological
boom which is the well known face of a resurgent India. With a salubrious
climate with lakes, parks and greenery, Bangalore is a cosmopolitan
city which is a hub of scientific, industrial, educational and health
related activities.
We look forward to receiving you all in Bangalore in November 2009.
